Milton and Bedford Elementary schools held a joint career fair for third through sixth grade students on April 17, at Bedford Elementary.
The event showcased several career opportunities throughout the area by allowing students to interact with company representatives and some of the equipment they rely on in their jobs.
Businesses and organizations participating in the career awareness event included: Bedford Fire and Rescue, EMS, Emergency Services, the sheriff’s department including School Resource Officer Lonnie Gullion, Trimble County Public Library, KU/LG&E, Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA), North Central District Health Department, Redimere Solutions, Trimble County Fiscal Court, Tony’s Wrecker and Recovery Services of St. Matthews, Trimble County Animal Control and Trimble County Roads Department.
Students were able to visit with several community employers and agencies inside the school and the program included a large display of equipment in an area just outside the school building where students had an opportunity to go inside an ambulance, check out large tractors, and a huge tow truck.
The principals expressed thanks to the employees who gave their time and answered the students’ many career exploration questions.
