JEFFERSON — The Ashtabula County Building Department has a variety of different forms and informational items to help any home improvement projects county residents may be considering.

The site also includes a list of steps required to obtain a permit, which consists of first reaching out to local zoning officials for the project, contacting the health department if the project includes plumbing aspects, providing a copy of zoning and, if necessary, plumbing approvals to the building department. Permit applications for residential projects can be submitted in paper at the office.

Inspections are required before pouring concrete into footings, at various points during foundation work depending on the point of the foundation, plumbing rough and rough inspections, fire resistance.
