Tom Brady shouts out niece Maya Brady after 62nd career home run for UCLA softball

Tom Brady has a lot of love for her niece, UCLA softball star Maya Brady. On Sunday, the legendary NFL quarterback went to his Instagram Story to send a message to Maya after she hit her 62nd career home run, good enough to put her third in UCLA history.

“Sorry peeps it just runs in the family,” Tom wrote, per TMZ Sports. Maya, 22, is eldest daughter of Tom’s older sister. In 2021, Maya spoke to The Athletic about the support she’s received from her uncle.

“I think it’s amazing, knowing I have his support,” Maya said. “He’s like a father figure to me. It’s nice knowing what I do makes him proud.”

Maya has become of the of the best college softball players in the country. She was named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2023 after recording a .456 batting average with 18 home runs, 59 RBIs and 63 runs scored in 58 games.

Last year, Maya talked about Tom on Pac-12 Radio.  I’m very honored, obviously, that I have this last name and I have the family that I have,” Maya said, per Marca. “I think it’s just something that I’ve had to kind of grow into and it’s a huge blessing for me. It has taught me a lot throughout my life. Dealing with adversity and blocking people out when they have stuff to say, so I think it’s just been a very positive thing for me and I’m very blessed.

Tom Brady waiting to be NFL team owner

While Tom Brady shows support for his family, he’s also looking to be an NFL team owner. It was reported that the NFL owners have an issue with Brady being part of the Las Vegas Raiders ownership group because of his upcoming job as a NFL analyst for Fox Sports. Brady and Tom Wagner, a co-founder of hedge fund Knighthead Capital Management, are looking to own 10 precent of the Raiders.

“I know we’re in the process of trying to invest in a minority share in the Raiders,” Brady said on SportsCenter back in June (per Sports Illustrated). “I’m still a part of football, it’s just going to be in a little bit of a different way, but still looking to make contributions in those areas to those teams, just in a different way than I did as a quarterback, but still, very excited about both of them.”

Brady is an minority owner of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. The team, which is lead by majority owner Mark Davis, has won the last two WNBA championships.
