WHAT IS BEHIND US RIGHT THERE ON THE RADAR. YES, THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ISSUED THIS MORNING AT THE EMAIL AS I WAS GETTING READY. SO THAT WAS 3:08 A.M. THEY ISSUED IT SPECIFICALLY. THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE. I WAS PROBABLY REALIZING THAT I NEEDED TO GET A MOVE ON THINGS AT THAT POINT. RANDI AND IF YOU’RE PLANNING OUT YOUR WEEKEND, OBVIOUSLY THIS COULD IMPACT TONIGHT. REALLY. AND IT REALLY, YOU KNOW, IN ITS FISH FRY SEASON, RIGHT? IT’S HUGE WINTER SPORTS. THERE’S BASKETBALL GAMES ALL OVER THE PLACE. SO PEOPLE HAVE THINGS TO DO RIGHT. KNOW THAT WHILE AT 4 OR 5 AND 6:00 THE ROADS ARE PROBABLY GOING TO BE WET AS THE SUN GOES DOWN, IT DOES START TO ACCUMULATE A LITTLE BIT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET SOME HEAVIER BANDS. THUNDERSNOW IS NOT OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY TONIGHT, SO IF THAT HAPPENS, THERE’S NO WAY THAT THE THE ROAD STAYS WET WET, RIGHT? THAT THAT IS A DUMP OF SNOW BASICALLY. SO BE AWARE THE ROAD CONDITIONS COULD BE CHANGING AFTER ABOUT SIX AND 7 P.M. TONIGHT AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT THE RADAR RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN SEE WE DO HAVE SNOW SHOWERS MAKING THEIR WAY SLOWLY TO THE EAST, AND MOST OF THIS STAYS NORTH OF I-70 THROUGH ABOUT NOON TO 2 P.M. THEN IT STARTS TO SETTLE INTO OUR AREA. SO HERE’S THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. AND YOU CAN SEE IT’S FOR EVERYBODY GOES INTO EFFECT AT NOON. BUT STILL AGAIN, WE’RE LOOKING AT IMPACTS MORE LIKELY AFTER ABOUT 5 OR 6 P.M. TONIGHT GOES THROUGH 1:00 ON SATURDAY MORNING AND SO WE ARE STARTING OUT WITH DRY CONDITIONS. WANT TO SHOW YOU ROAD CONDITIONS EXPECTED TO BE WET, BUT BY ABOUT 7 P.M. THAT’S WHEN I THINK THINGS ARE CHANGING, RIGHT? THE SUN HAS GONE DOWN OUR TEMPERATURES HAVE DROPPED BELOW FREEZING AND YOU’RE SEEING A QUICKER SNOWFALL RATE. SO THE PAVEMENT IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO OVERCOME THAT. AND WE WILL HAVE THE SNOW START TO STICK. SO HERE’S WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN ABOUT 7 P.M. AND 10 P.M., YOU START TO SEE THOSE SNOW. THE ROADS BECOME MORE SNOW COVERED, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND FOR EVENING PLANS. TRAVEL CAN BE A LITTLE SLOWER THAN IT USUALLY IS, RIGHT? AS WE LOOK AT THE FUTURECAST, LET’S WATCH THE SNOW MOVE IN. SO CLOUDY SKIES ALL MORNING. LUNCHTIME TIME. WE’RE STILL SNOW FREE. THAT SNOW IS ALONG I-70 AND BACK TOWARD INDY STILL, BUT BY ABOUT 2:00 OR THE 2:00 HOUR, IT’S STARTING TO CREEP ITS WAY INTO AREAS NORTH OF 74 AND INTO NORTHERN BUTLER COUNTY. AND BY ABOUT 4:00, NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE INSIDE AND AROUND THE 275 LOOP, CHANCES ARE YOU’VE GOT SOME SNOW FALLING HEADING INTO THE EVENING HOURS. AGAIN, ROADS STILL WET 430 5:00, BUT BY 630 AND 7 P.M., ALL OF THESE FACTORS COME TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME. SO YOU HAVE MORE INTENSE BANDS OF SNOW INDICATED BY THESE DEEPER BLUE COLORS. HERE THE TEMPERATURES DROPPING SO WE’RE LOOKING AT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE SNOW TO START TO STICK IN SPOTS, ESPECIALLY ON UNTREATED ROADS. ON MORE RURAL ROADS THAT AREN’T USED AS MUCH ON RAISED SURFACES. BY 630 7:00. AND THOSE SNOW BANDS PRETTY INTENSE THROUGH ABOUT 8 P.M. AND THEN WE’RE GETTING IN ON THE BACK SIDE OF THIS THING BY NINE AND 10:00 TONIGHT. SNOW IS ON THE WAY OUT, SO IT’S ONLY GOING TO SNOW FOR 4 OR 5 HOURS IN MOST TOWNS. SO WE’RE GOING TO PICK UP SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 1 AND 3IN OF SNOW. AND JUST A HEADS UP, IT GETS WAY COLDER BEHIND THIS THING. SO WE COULD HAVE TOMORROW SOME ICY PATCHES. IF ANYTHING LOOKS WET TOMORROW MORNING, KNOW THAT IT COULD BE ICE. SO AS FAR AS OUR SNOWFALL AMOUNTS GO, MOST OF US ARE GOING TO END UP HERE IN THE 1 TO 3IN OF SNOW THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE KIDS NEED TO GO OUT TOMORROW MORNING AND SHOVEL THREE INCHES OF SNOW OFF THE SIDEWALK. THAT INITIAL BATCH IS REALLY IT’S GOING TO MELT, BUT THERE WILL BE SOME THAT STICKS A LITTLE BIT LATER ON TONIGHT. SO HERE’S THE 12 HOUR FORECAST WE GO THROUGH THE MORNING. WE’RE KIND OF HANGING OUT NEAR FREEZING. WE MAKE IT UP TO OUR HIGH AROUND 38 DEGREES, BUT THE TEMPERATURES ARE FALLING AS THAT SNOW MOVES IN. AND YOU CAN SEE BY ABOUT 5:00 WE’RE DOWN TO FREEZING. ONCE THE TEMPERATURES DROP, THE SNOWFALL RATES PICK UP AND THE SUN GOES DOWN. THAT’S WHEN I THINK WE START TO SEE MORE IMPACTS ON THE ROADS. SO FOR TODAY, 38 DEGREES, IT TURNS CLOUDY AND SNOW ARRIVES FOR MOST OF US MID AFTERNOON. STEADY INTO THE EVENING. 1 TO 3IN OF SNOW WILL FALL ACROSS THE AREA. AND THEN BY TOMORROW MORNING WE’RE DOWN TO 21 DEGREES IN THE MORNING. AND MAN, IT’S GOING TO BE A COLD ONE. I WANT TO SHOW YOU THE TEMPERATURES IN THE 20S THROUGH THE DAY. WIND CHILLS THROUGH THE DAY SATURDAY IN THE TEENS. SO YES, IT IS STILL WINTER TIME THOUGH. THE END OF THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST SHOWS IT’LL WARM UP REAL QUICK NEXT WEEK.
