Shocking Animal Abuse at Thane Pet Clinic Sparks Outrage, Demand for Justice Grows as Video Goes Viral

Two people were arrested after a video of them punching and kicking a dog at a pet clinic in Thane, Maharashtra went viral. On February 13, a police complaint was filed in connection with the incident. The incident occurred at Vetic Pet Clinic, which is located in R Mall in Thane. The clinic specialises in the grooming and care of pets.

In the video, a pet clinic employee can be seen repeatedly punching the Chow Chow dog in the face and back. A man filming the incident was also seen hitting the dog as it struggled. The dog was then seen getting off the stretcher and leaving the room while the man continued to kick it.

Many people, including several Bollywood actors, have expressed their outrage over the viral video. Currently, visuals of both miscreants being apprehended by Thane police have surfaced online. The names of the two arrested individuals have yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, the police closed the pet clinic.

“This is a deeply disturbing incident involving a pet and 2 of our groomers. As pet parents and animal lovers, this is shocking and completely unacceptable to us. As a first step, we immediately terminated both of them and logged a formal investigation into this. We are also working alongside the authorities and have initiated police action in this matter,” a Vetic Pet Clinic, Thane spokesperson told Free Press Journal (FPJ).

Nilesh Bhange, an office-bearer of the animal rights organisation PAWS, and a few other people filed a non-cognizable complaint after the video went viral on social media, an official told the news agency PTI. A magistrate’s order is required before police can look into a non-cognizable complaint, as per reports.
