by Longtime MLB outfielder and former Dodgers minor league Kole Calhoun has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball after a 12-year career.
He made the announcement on his Instagram:
Calhoun enjoyed a long MLB career that began when he was drafted in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels.
Calhoun debuted with the Angels in 2012, and was a consistent contributor for the Halos until 2019.
In 2020 and 2021, Calhoun spent two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Then, in 2022, he was with the Texas Rangers, and in 2023, he was with the Cleveland Guardians.
Also in 2023, Calhoun spent some time in the Dodgers’ organization. He appeared in 35 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Calhoun finishes his career 179 home runs, 582 runs batted in and an OPS+ of 101, just above league average. He won a Gold Glove with the Angels in 2015, and hit a career-high 33 home runs in the 2019 season in Anaheim.
He finishes his career with over 10 years of service time, passing the mark by 17 days.
