Started in the 1980s, this event has been a staple in the region for many years, offering something for everyone, whether they’re first-time homeowners or seasoned property owners.

Amber Underwood, president of the association, said that there is a lot of innovative and new techniques for home building this year, “Big things right now is energy efficient…whether it’s changing, outlining weather change, insulation, maybe it’s upgrading your windows…that’s what people are talking about right now is how to save money,” Underwood explained.

Underwood noted there seems to be record-breaking attendance for the 2024 show, with a noticeable trend towards remodeling projects.

“We also see people that are looking to sell…remodeling to bring a little bit current to help with that…remodeling is definitely up from last year,” she stated.

From foundations to roofs, attendees had access to a one-stop shop for all their house building needs. Additionally, nearly 100 small businesses were also showcasing their goods at the event, with one business owner, Trista Vlcek from Jump N Slide Enterprise (bouncy houses), praising the exposure and growth opportunities provided by pop-up markets like those at the Home Show.

“These pop-ups actually help to get our name out there and help grow our business right off the bat…being a part of the Homebuilders show is awesome,” Vlcek said.

Underwood says she’s proud of the show’s growth and hoped for its continued success in the coming years. The Black Hills Home Builders Association’s Home Show’s last day is Sunday, March 24, and is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
