Video triggers debate on social media
The video has garnered over 20 million views on Instagram. While a section of users applauded Jo for her observation and for appreciating the Indian culture, others debated over ‘racism’. A foreign user mocked India and commented, “Still the nastiest nation in the world.” Another user wrote, “Funny how an Aussie is imitating a custom which is deeply rooted in culture. Just be your Aussie self!”
“Stay safe and bless you my country’s people are helpful and friendly but yeah careful with some low mindset people,” an Indian user advised Jo. “I have seen head nods in every country I have travelled to,” yet another user argued.
