Facebook and Instagram down for users worldwide
Facebook and Instagram has gone done for many users worldwide.
Over 1,000 people have reported issues with the social media sites with a map from Down Detector showing areas of the UK where the most outages have been reported.
Some users report not being able to view stories or use the search feature on both of the apps.
The online platform collecting real-time data on the status of websites and services saw a huge spike in reports relating to both Facebook and Instagram this afternoon.
It seems the outage has not only hit many Brits but also users in Asia, the US and Europe.

This comes only a few weeks after a mega outage of the social media sites.
Earlier in the month, many Meta users found they’d been logged out of the apps or that they weren’t working properly.
And just as they did that time, those affected by the outage today have turned to a different social media site to rant about the issue and check it’s not just them.
X, obviously. Because what else do you do when there’s a problem online?
Users joked that ‘everyone is running to Twitter right now’ as one slammed: “Instagram always wanna be down when i wanna get on it.”
As people are beginning to discover that doom message of ‘something went wrong’ on the Meta apps, they write on X: “Greggs shut, Facebook and instagram down… what a turbulent day for the UK.”
Another asks: “Is Instagram down again?? Wtf is going on with these META platforms man??”

Others are getting settled on X as they say: “Since Facebook and Instagram are currently down, I will just stay here for the meantime.”
Many are completely fed up with yet another outage as they put: “Why every week Instagram behave like this?”
When Meta went down at the beginning of the month, the tech company’s spokesperson released a statement explaining ‘a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services’.
“We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Andy Stone said.
It’s said that even just a small period of an outage could cost Meta a fortune, with the huge amount of revenue the company earns broken down previously.
Meta is yet to release a statement on today’s outage as users continue to report issues with Facebook and Instagram.
