Iowa DOT X account hacked, used to promote cryptocurrency
Iowans looking online for traffic updates Tuesday morning may have found an odd surprise from an official state social media account.The Iowa Department of Transportation said Tuesday that its account on X, formerly known as Twitter, had been compromised. The DOT says it is working with X to regain control.The account had been promoting a cryptocurrency account throughout Tuesday morning. As of noon Tuesday, the account seems to have been taken back, but old posts and profile information were not yet fully returned.
