Jaguars drafting OT Javon Foster brings needed depth
Times-Union sports columnist Gene Frenette assigns grades for all of the Jaguars’ 2024 NFL draft picks.
Javon Foster, OT, Missouri, No. 114 overall
Grade: B-plus
This pick is all about getting some needed insurance at a position where the Jaguars have uncertain futures for Cam Robinson and Walker Little. At 6-foot-5, 313 pounds, Foster can hopefully provide the physicality the Jaguars need to improve their spotty record in third-and-short situations. As the second-oldest tackle in this draft at 24, and with 39 starts the past three years at left tackle, Foster being a first-team All-SEC player bodes well for a solid NFL career. The Jaguars matched value and need pretty well here. It doesn’t hurt that his father, Jerome, spent four years in the NFL as a defensive lineman.
