Opinion | President Biden’s student loan cancellations
Canceling $1.2 billion in student loans is a naked ploy by President Biden to buy the votes of young voters who, according to recent polls, are unhappy with his support of Israel [“Biden cancels $1.2B in loans,” front page, Feb. 22]. This cancellation does not erase the loans. Every cent of the $1.2 billion is added to the U.S. debt and must be paid off by the U.S. taxpayer. And, because Congress has been bypassed, it is taxation without representation, something that D.C. residents are sensitive to.
