Proposed policies concerning gender identity could open ‘world of legal issues’ for school

After a contentious school district meeting for Crawford Central, a local leader spoke out on the topic.

Monday night, district officials discussed new policies that would set standards for people identifying as a gender not given to them at birth.

The solicitor warned that the district could put itself in a harmful position if the new policies moves forward.

NWPA Pride Alliance President Alex Sphon believes this is another attack on the queer youth in the region.

He said queer youth is arguably the most vulnerable class and this seemed to be something that repeatedly comes out of this area.

“Knowing that they’re blatantly disregarding the advice of their solicitor and saying that. in a time when most parents were there to discuss the budget and the potential crisis that that district finds themself in, that these school board members are opening themselves up to a world of legal issues,” said Sphon.

JET 24/FOX 66 reached out to the superintendent’s office and they have not yet responded.
