Total Senior Care hosting Senior Health & Fitness Fair | Cattaraugus County

OLEAN — Total Senior Care (TSC), located at 519 N. Union St., will be hosting a Senior Health & Fitness Fair on Wednesday, May 29.

The fair, to be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., will serve as an outlet for TSC family participants and surrounding community members to receive vital information for achieving optimal health.

Staff from the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging, Southern Tier Health Care System, Alzheimer’s Association of WNY, Cattaraugus County Health Department, Olean Family YMCA and HomeCare & Hospice will man information tables. They will provide an opportunity to showcase resources and services that contribute to the health and well-being of the community.

“Our health fair coincides with National Senior Health & Fitness Day, an annual health and wellness day for older adults,” said Roxanne Padlo, center program director. “The goals of National Senior Health & Fitness Day are to promote the importance of regular physical activity, and to show what local organizations are doing to improve the health of older adults in their communities.”

As event host, Total Senior Care will have a presentation of services beginning at 12:30 p.m. TSC offers DayBreak, a social program for adults who may need assistance with activities of daily living. DayBreak provides activities and socialization in a supervised and safe setting.

TSC is also a comprehensive managed long-term care program for adults 55 or older who wish to live at home to maintain health, complete day-to-day activities and remain safe at home for as long as possible.

“We know the services we’re providing are having an extraordinary impact,” Padlo added. “We are absolutely the best secret in town, but we don’t want to stay a secret.”

Those in attendance can also have their blood pressure checked and their BMI calculated. These screenings offer clear pictures of health risks and are useful indicators of your health. A ConnectLife Blood Drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in addition to the DayBreak presentation.

Who should attend this senior health and fitness fair?

“In addition to those 55-plus, we encourage family members/caregivers who will also benefit greatly from senior expo events,” said Sarah Negron, agency relations coordinator. “Caregivers may not know all the services that are available, so it’s beneficial (to attend) for those who are caring for seniors as they navigate the aging process. You can be surprised what services are out there.”

Parking for the event will be along North Union Street in front of the center as well as the parking lot south of the TSC entrance.
